The quilt pattern of this top looks like layered eagles feathers.  One of the most stunning assets of this guitar is the extremely clean and richly colored Indian Rosewood fret board.  It is in excellent condition and has only been lightly played.  Just enough that you won’t have to be afraid to take it out of the case or out to a gig.  The action is low and buzz free on a wide/thin neck carve.  It comes with the original hang tag which has a price sticker on the back from the music store that bought it from the factory.  Their asking price for this guitar was over $2400 back in 1992.

Less than 1/10th of all PRS Custom guitars ever made were built by hand in the old factory between 1985 and 1995.  These pre-factory guitars are worth more today than when they were new and will always be worth more than you paid for it, regardless of how much you play it.

There are very few cosmetic imperfections present.  Just three small random nicks in the clear coat on top.  The most notable is just above the low E string between the pick-ups as can be seen in several of the pictures now that I’ve pointed it out.  The others are barely visible towards the top edge under your arm and just below the center line back by the strap button.  This one doesn’t even have any pick hazing below the strings.  There is no buckle rash at all on the back.  Just very few and very light random swirls in the clear coat as tipped in the reflective light.  The only noticeable mark on the back or on the entire guitar for that matter is on the back of the lower horn as seen in the picture of the back.  The high tip of the headstock appears to have been professionally touched up at some point in this guitar’s life.  I’ve owned the guitar for over a year and did not know it was there, even when I first received it and inspected it carefully.  I noticed the touch up only when I put the guitar under close photographic lighting to take the pictures for this listing.  As seen in the pictures, the face of the headstock is perfect.  The inside tip and side edge can be seen in the close-ups but somebody did a very good job on the touch-up which is un-noticeable under any conditions other than close, brightly lit inspection.  I’ll down-grade my cosmetic evaluation of this guitar to 9.0 only because I know it is there now.  Otherwise I would give this 22 year old classic it’s well deserved 9.5 cosmetic rating.

She weighs in a little under 8.5 pounds as best I can tell on a bathroom scale marked only to the 1/4 pound.  Comes with the original PRS hard case, tremolo bar, truss tool, hang tag, and the original warrantee card filled out in 1993.  A business card from a PRS factory rep was in the case as well as a card signed from the Virginia music store where the guy I got it from bought it used in 1997, which was signed on the back to him by Paul.  His 1997 yellow sales receipt is included as well.  It’s all in the photograph above.  The case is in very good shape for a 22 year old instrument and all of the latches work well.

Please be sure to take a moment and click here to look at my ABOUT page or access it from the top menu bar.  You can click HERE to access my e-Bay feedback profile ( e-Bay seller dm-2 ) directly as well.  I encourage even the smallest of questions so always feel free to e-mail me any time.  Over 140 of my e-Bay feedback ratings are from PRS guitar sales.  The sequential serial numbers of set neck guitars coming out of the factory topped 200,000 last year.  The number on this guitar is barely 15,000, putting it in the top 7% of all PRS set neck guitars ever made.  If you’ve come to this page directly through an organic Google search, you can see a list of all the PRS guitars I currently have for sale HEREPRS guitars are an investment.  You’ll ALWAYS have the option to re-sell it for as much or more than you paid.

This guitar is also listed on e-Bay with a starting price of $340 more than I’m asking here at my home page, just to put a dent in the outrageous e-Bay seller fees they would charge me to sell it to you there.  It is also on a rotating consignment schedule in two local music stores but I’m asking more there too, as they take a pretty healthy fee if it sells there for me.  Why pay more than you have to?  Check my feedback and buy it here.  It may be gone soon.  Send me an e-mail and we’ll talk.
